In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, I began working at EYE-Q Vision Care in Fresno, Ca. My first job there was to screen people for COVID-19. I would ask them if they have had any symptoms of the virus and I would take their temperature. However, I was soon asked if I could work in the ophthalmic tech department. At first, I was nervous about saying yes. I did not want to make mistake that would slow down the pace of the office. Nevertheless, I am so so glad that I took this opportunity. This job has opened my eyes to the medical field and has taught me a skill that I never thought I would learn.

In the past 6 months of working this job, my knowledge of ophthalmology and patient care has expanded greatly. The purpose of this website is to inform future ophthalmic technicians about the tests/scans they will be doing and the challenges that come along with them. I am no expert, but I have learned a lot in the past 6 months. This website has information that I wish I knew before starting in this department.

Gloved up!
